A Beginner’s Guide to Titanium Mesh Breast Implants with impartial, expert information and advice.

Little is known about the Titanium Mesh, or TiMesh Breast Implants (sometimes known as the Internal Titanium bra) as it is not a treatment that is available in the UK or US. The procedure involves a thin net-curtain-like mesh made from Titanium which is placed under the skin of the breast and attached to the ribs and muscle. It is mainly aimed at overcoming sagging breast and is claimed to give the breast a youthful lift. Since its first use in March 2003, the Titanium Mesh Breast Implant has been tested on several dozen patients of the inventor Dr. Ziya Saylan, in his practice in Düsseldorf, Germany costing around £5,000 each. Titanium is widely seen in the medical community as a bio-compatible material, which is unlikely to react with the body's natural tissue. However, Dr. Saylan recognises the potential risks that are involved with the Titanium Mesh Breast Implant, including the permanent nature of the implant making it difficult to remove at a later stage. This could cause problems for a patient if they gain weight or the shape and size of their breast changes later on in life.

As this treatment is still very much in its infancy it is unlikely to be available soon in the UK until health authorities and independent researchers collect enough information about the effect that the Titanium Mesh Breast Implant has on a larger number of patients and the long-term consequences it may have.
