BUPA Hospitals Rebrand As 'Spire Healthcare'
Friday, 19 October 2007

Spire Healthcare, the new independent healthcare group, formerly BUPA hospitals, is planning to grow its business as it builds on its position as a leading player in the private hospital market.

Clare Hollingsworth, the Chief Executive of Spire Hospitals explains "Becoming a stand alone healthcare company, separate from BUPA, will give us greater freedom to develop our business and offer more services to more people."

BUPA Hospitals Rebrand As Spire HealthcareAll 25 hospitals across the UK, previously owned by BUPA, saw the new Spire Healthcare signs go up this week. But despite the name change, Clare Hollingsworth insists that the company will continue to provide the same high standards of service with a greater emphasis on patient care. "Everyone appreciates that it's not just about treating patients, it's about looking after people. We believe that makes the difference and sets us apart from other hospitals."

As well as continuing to provide private treatments to self-pay and insured patients, NHS patients can also be treated at Spire Hospitals through their GP, under the government’s 'Choose and Book' scheme.

“We’re proud to be working with the NHS by using our spare capacity to bring waiting lists down and offer people a greater choice of quality healthcare. Patients who are referred to a hospital for NHS treatment by their GP should ask to come to a Spire Hospital.”
